Scorching heat, bass booming, music blaring, die-hard fans screaming "Hip Hop!"
repetitively throughout the night. These are just a few things to describe the
Rock the Bells concert that took place in Miami, Fl last night (Aug 2).
The arena was filled with heat, not just from the weather,
but the heat from the Super MCs that was in the building spitting that fire.
The intensity rose from artist to artist bringing extra excitement as the night
progresses starting with the opening act B.o.B.
Next, came out the funny dread head, Murs.
Murs delivered a stellar performance giving a great representation of the West Coast.
Next up to bat was the D.C. Native Wale, (pronounce Wa-LE not Wa-LI).
Though he only has one commercial single, W.A.L.E.D.A.N.C.E.,
he has been tearing up the mixtape world.
Wale performed many track off the "The Mixtape About Nothing".
Sidebar: for the sneaker heads he was rocking the eggplants.
The performer that came after Wale, I wasn't too much aware about,
definitely left an impact on me.
From his controversial lyrics about racism, politics and religion to his
I ain't scared to say nothing attitude.
Immortal Technique open the audience mind to issues that were
affecting third world countries. You can see and hear the passion on his face
as his lyrics flowed out his mouth. Dead Prez, release revolutionary music as usual.
I could be here for hours writing about the concert,
but that will take all day and this whole blog.
so I'm going to give you the rest of the line up.
The great De La Soul took us back to '89.
Raekwon and Ghostface Killah gave us the grittiness that New York is known for.
Mos Def gave us a tour through Brooklyn.
Special Guest Pharcyde kept "Taking us Away".
Method Man and Redman shut the show down with there energy!
They even brought out NORE as a special guest!
Nas took us back to the Nasty Nas days and open our eyes to the bullshit in the media.
For the grand finale, Q-tip performed a solo act
then A Tribe Called Quest came to close out the show.
Overall the show was astonishing and shows that Hip Hop is still alive.
No wack dances, no weak lyrics, just pure hardcore Hip Hop.
Look out for pics coming soon
Shout out to: Suky, Philip, Sab and Terell
(G.I.A.N.T. representative) for making the show even better.
PME and G.I.A.N.T. was in the building.
